I-STARS is aware that digital skills are necessary in the tourism sector.
For this reason, this course aims:
- Highlights the importance of digital skills and emphasises how digital skills are pivotal for sustainability, innovation, and adapting to new technology-driven roles within tourism.
- Delves into key concepts of the technology-driven transformation of the travel landscape. It highlights the impact of millennials in integrating social media and mobile tech into travel, discussing essential mobile technology and innovative technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality, the internet of things, and big data in enhancing customer experiences and marketing efforts.
- Explores the transition from analogue to digital operations, emphasising the benefits of efficiency and sustainability through digital tools and skills. The integration of cloud computing, data analytics, and customer relationship management systems is introduced, along with becoming mobile-ready. Additionally, the importance of web accessibility and digital marketing, especially in the context of sustainability is discussed.
- Focuses on constructing social media marketing plans, emphasising the strategic utilisation of social media's reach and engagement. Deepens this by guiding through the creation of a social media content calendar, while explores financing options for digital upskilling projects, covering EU, national, regional, and private funding sources.
In addition to the Digital Upskilling course, the platform offers the following training courses: food waste management, stakeholder engagement, waste management, water management and energy management.

- Online. I-STARS courses are online, allowing participants to complete it at their own place and space.
- Flexibility. I-STARS courses can be completed at the pace and timetable of the participants choice.
- Multilingual. All six I-STARS eCourses are available in English, Greek, Italian and Spanish.
- Duration.Each I-STARS eCourse learning is estimated to last around 4 hours, with an additional 1 hour of online quizzes.
- Certificate. As you progress through each I-STARS eCourse, quizzes are incorporated within the course content. To receive your Certificate, it's essential to achieve a minimum score of 75% on these quizzes during the course. Do not worry if you do not pass the first time, you can retake the Quiz as many times as you want: the aim is to acquire the knowledge.
- Support. Registered will be accompanied and supported by a team of sustainability experts throughout their learning process.
- Free. The platform is open and there is no cost to the public.
