OTIE promotes energy management training

• A free 4-hour online training course aims to equip tourism businesses with skills and knowledge on sustainability and responsible business practices.

The Observatory On Tourism In The European Islands in the framework of the I-STARS project, launches a new online course to improve competences and skills in energy management for tourism enterprises.This training program is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage energy in your business.

Throughout the course, you will learn about key concepts and energy reduction techniques. You will gain knowledge about renewable energy sources as well as staff training and guest education. Practical implementation is a core aspect of this course. You will learn, how to conduct an energy audit, build an energy management plan, and explore finance options for energy-saving projects.

I-STARS is aware that the efficient energy management is crucial for small and medium-sized tourism businesses to reduce operational costs, enhance sustainability, and comply with environmental regulations.Also, investing in energy training enables SMEs in the tourism sector to optimize resource use, improve overall performance, and contribute to a positive environmental impact.A well-trained workforce in energy management empowers tourism SMEs to adapt to industry trends, foster innovation, and ultimately achieve long-term economic viability.

In addition to the energy managementcourse, the platform offers the following training courses: digital upskilling, food waste management, stakeholder engagement, waste management and water management.
Why choose I-STARS courses?

• Online. I-STARS courses are online, allowing participants to complete it at their own place and space.
• Flexibility. I-STARS courses can be completed at the pace and timetable of the participants choice.
• Multilingual. All six I-STARS eCourses are available in English, Greek, Italian and Spanish. 
• Duration. Each I-STARS eCourse learning is estimated to last around 4 hours, with an additional 1 hour of online quizzes.
• Certificate. As you progress through each I-STARS eCourse, quizzes are incorporated within the course content. To receive your Certificate, it's essential to achieve a minimum score of 75% on these quizzes during the course. Do not worry if you do not pass the first time, you can retake the Quiz as many times as you want: the aim is to acquire the knowledge.
• Support. Registered will be accompanied and supported by a team of sustainability experts throughout their learning process.
• Free. The platform is open and there is no cost to the public.
